Book Launch & discussion -RMA
This is the Bangkok launch of Zhuang Wubin’s “Photography in Southeast Asia: A Survey” (NUS Press, 2016). The book has taken over ten years to complete, and surveys the varying ways in which photography intersects the practices of art, journalism, politics, culture and religion across the region. The bulk of the book spans the post-WWII era to the contemporary, with individual chapters dedicated to the countries of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippinesand Vietnam.
In this informal discussion, Zhuang will be joined by Miti Ruangkritya, who is featured in the Thailand chapter of the book. Both of them will take up some of the trajectories of Thai photography and consider them within the context of Southeast Asia.
zhuang wubin / 庄吴斌 is the photographer, researcher and curator I had a chance to learn from, two years ago.
